Oma Sonia (1920-2018) was a Holocaust survivor who escaped Nazi occupied Poland and came to the USA in 1940. She became a prolific artist, painting colorful flowers, landscapes and portraits. Due to her primitive folk style, she was compared to Grandma Moses, and her friends and admirers (at the senior center) began to call her "Oma Sonia." Her annual calendars for friends featuring her artwork were the start of creating gifts - and the family tradition was continues as we created unique gifts from her artwork.
