Oma Sonia was a Holocaust survivor who experienced Krystallnacht and the Nazi bombing and occupation of Poland. She escaped to the USA om 1940, and became a prolific artist of primitive landscapes (friends compared her to Grandma Moses, and Oma is German for Grandma, and so she became known as Oma Sonia).
