Oma Sonia (1920-2018) was a prolific artist, who painted colorful farms and villages in a primative folk style. She became known also for her evocative portraits, brilliant florals, and pastoral landscapes. She gave calendars of her artwork to friends for many years, and her art was often compared with "Grandma Moses" due to Sonia's primative, folksy style, and so she became known as "Oma Sonia" with Oma meaning "grandma" in German.
